The liar's punishment is, not in the least that he is not believed, but that he cannot believe any one else. The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man. The worst sin towards our fellow creatures is not to hate them, but to be indifferent to them: that's the essence of inhumanity. Must then a Christ perish in torment in every age to save those that have no imagination?

Can anyone tell me what all went on in the third act of Man and Superman by George Bernard Shaw?
Q. I just read Man and Superman by George Bernard Shaw, and I'm a little confused. I understood (vaguely) the whole romanticism idea that took up a lot of the third act, but then all the sudden "Superman" comes out of nowhere. As far as I can tell, they proceeded to identify who he was, explain in detail, then tell Ana that he did not yet exist or something. If there is someone who knows about this book, an explanation would really help. I would like to know what the book is talking about before I take a major test on it. Like I said, I understand the theme of man needing women for survival, etc... I just don't understand where "Superman" came from. Much appreciation!
